Coulrophobia - fear of clowns
Geniophobia - fear of chins
Hedonophobia - fear of pleasure
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - fear of long words
Lachanophobia - fear of vegetables
Novercaphobia - fear of your step-mother
Paraskavedekatriaphobia - fear of Friday 13

First Day...
Today was my first day at my new summer job. I didn't really do any work, as I have 'training' before I actually do anything. I had three breaks before lunch. We spent most of the day doing paper work, and reading through a few pages in the manual. I'm sure (fingers crossed) that it'll get more interesting. Once the office actually opens in the mall, and I'm helping people find jobs it should get better.

Volunteer...
Last night I went to what I thought was a dessert reception for volunteers at my university. It turned out to be an award/recognition ceremony and reception, sponsored by the Student Life department, for about 30 volunteers at my university. I was a bit surprised to have been nominated, but honoured at the same time. The best part I'll admit, which came after the speeches, photos, etc., was the dessert reception. There were white and dark chocolate fountains, individual creme brulee, a torte, old-style chocolate truffles, bite size peanut butter and chocolate cheese cake squares, and cream puffs. It was all amazingly good, and I was on a bit of a sugar high as I ate way too much dessert!

80 Facts...
Here's a site with 80 interesting facts about Queen Elizabeth II. Some of them are really interesting, such as the fact that she first sent an email in 1976, that she has opened 15 bridges in the UK during her reign, and that she has 30 godchildren.

Summer Job, Exams...
I found out this week that I've got a job for the summer. I'll be working for the government, helping students find jobs for the summer (helping with CV's, interview skills, job searches, etc.). And the office is pretty close to home, which is nice.
I've also finished 3 of my final exams, and I've only got one left in a week. I can't wait to finish.

中国饭馆...
I went for Chinese food yesterday (yum), and actually got to use some of the Mandarin that I've been learning this semester. It was nice to know that someone who speaks Mandarin can actually understand me! I must say that it was a bit funny when a white couple came in while I was ordering, and then guy was answering me in Mandarin. The look of shock on their faces was priceless.

Done...
Yesterday was my last day of classes, so now I've I've got left before I grad are my finals (next week, and the week after). It feels both nice, and a bit scary, to be finished. This weekend will be full of studying, as I've got three finals next week (Chinese, advanced genetics, and French literature). I can't wait until they're done.

Goodbye...
I thought I'd include a short post about Laurent, who died tragically just a couple of days ago. I'm not too sure what to say, but like most guides from last summer I'm shocked. Mark, another guide from last summer, has posted some photos and a few words on his blog.

Eagles...
Here's an interesting webcam showing an eagle nest on an island on the coast of BC. It's live, so if it's dark, that's probably because it's dark here. There's also a bit of sound, so you can hear the other birds, the wind, etc.
